Welcome to Douglas Library

Our goal is to provide a cultural center for all residents of the town of North Canaan and surrounding communities. The library is committed to providing equal access to information, idead and knowledge through books and other resources. The library believes in and supports intellectual freedom for all.




The Douglas Library is now open regular hours EXCLUDING Friday evenings for the time being.  If you are not vaccinated you ask that you wear a mask. If you would rather pick up library items curbside, we will be happy to oblige.  Let us know by phone or email what you wish to borrow.   We look forward to seeing you again!


Our Services

Join us on Friday, October 22 at 7PM. Paul Wegner, archaeologist at the Institute for American Indian studies will talk about the objects within the Pease Museum's collection at the library. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own artifacts and join the discussion! Masks must be worn. This event is free.
