Our goal is to provide a cultural center for all residents of the town of North Canaan and surrounding communities. The library is committed to providing equal access to information, idead and knowledge through books and other resources. The library believes in and supports intellectual freedom for all.
The Library will be closed on Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day.
The Douglas Library is now open regular hours EXCLUDING Friday evenings for the time being. We hope to open Saturdays beginning on October 3. All visitors are required to wear a mask . Library visits will be recorded on a contact tracing sheet. Unfortunately, children under 2 will not be able to enter the library at this time. The front entrance will be open for entering, the rear side door for exiting. Only one computer will be available to the public for 20 minute usage. The sitting areas and the upstairs of the library will be off limit to the public as well as the restrooms. We will continue to offer curbside service to those who prefer not to enter the library; please call or email your requests. We look forward to seeing you again and eventually resuming our regular operations!
